For several years now and as part of its FA Charter Standard commitment, Reeves Rangers has enjoyed fruitful links with Emmbrook Junior School in Wokingham.
The close relationship between the school and Reeves has developed on a number of levels and is now so well established that both parties derive a number of benefits from the partnership.
At its most basic level, there are many Emmbrook pupils who simply enjoy training and playing the beautiful game with Reeves. However, the relationship now goes beyond this in many other ways.
Probably the most significant of these is Reeves’ sponsorship of the football tournament at EMMPO. As well as organising and running the event, the club also sponsors the tournament by virtue of the trophies and medals that all of the kids are presented with.
For the first time in 2009, brand new main trophies have also been purchased by the club and have been re-named in honour of Gary Stevenson, Reeves Rangers’ Club Secretary who tragically and suddenly passed away earlier in the year.
Over the past couple of years, Reeves has also purchased new goal posts for the school and also donated kit for it to use in football games against other schools. The club also hires the school hall where it holds its annual presentation and registration days.
In return, the school allows the field to be used as a Summer training venue for a couple of Reeves youngest age groups and is also the venue for Reeves weekly ‘Football Fun’ programme. This programme has developed an enviable reputation amongst both local parents and kids alike and is designed to give young children aged between 4 and 6 a gentle introduction to football and most importantly, to have fun in the process. It takes place every Sunday morning at 10.30am and all Emmbrook pupils are welcome to attend. For more information, please contact Kevin Blee.
